Pending house move, dug out my old Grand Prix set, and my son was desperate to have a go.

Unfortunately both cars are broken, brushes + bodywork. So I promised him i'd get 'us' wink some new ones to play with.

Any recommendations on a fairly good durable cars?

Or anyone selling any?

Cheers

I'd go for the Boxsters, available for around £10 or so on Fleabay. I use my 2 sets for TIPEC club nights several times of the year & despite them spending half their time on the floor they are so far undamaged after 3 years.
Your cars will be fixable, find a Scalextric dealer in your area & get the bits, the spares are cheap.

The Boxsters and the Audi TTs are both 'Durable' so theyll both take a lot of stick. I acquired some new Scalextric cars recently and even though theyre now made in China, theyre a bit too smart to spoil racing.

Id suggest getting a pair 360 spin Nissan 350Zs. Theyre currently being cleared out at £20 - £25 a pair and youll have hours of fun with them. The only thing better than a pair of the newer 360 cars (theres a few different types) would be a pair of the original 1980 Mini banger racers (Mad Hatter and Mini Ha Ha for an eBay seach).: Id suggest going for new boxed ones if you can find them though... If you get these youll need track corner borders so that the utside lane car can spin around too.

Anything from the 'Super Resistant' range will give you hours of fun racing, withouth the worry of knocking bits off.

Available are the Boxster and TT already mentioned, as well as a Gallardo, F430 and Porsche GT3. For some silly fun, you could also try either the Minis or the Fiat 500s. Both are quick, but road holding is slightly trickier due to skinny wheels and high c of g - makes for some fun racing and quite good to hone your skills with.

yes

Or the 1990's Lemans Porshce...magnets that did nothing but ,with long enough bodies to block the entire width of track! true skill in sliding one of those around a track hehe

Simple but dammit one of these survived being thrown out a 3rd floor window and worked once pulled out of the mothers rockery!

It's the Digital one and they go for £38 delivered on Ebay. It's immaculate

Ebay Linky

and hastily taken pics on my iphone:

As you can see it comes in the original box and the car has all the mirrors and aerials still intact. I have a load of track including digital bits so if you're after anything in particular then I'll see if I've got it.

How about £25 delivered?

Hmm, I think it would work but probably overkill when you could probably get a non-digital car

I must get mine out of the loft, I've still got most of the cars I got for it including the old UOP Shadow F1s (yes it is that old).

If you can find them, try getting hold of the articulated lorries - great fun and a lot of skill needed to keep them moving at a decent speed.

As was said, buy either the TT's or the Boxsters... will give years of good service, both are tough as ole boots biggrin

I've just bought a Sport set, the rally pro one wink, but thought about a digital and was told by my brother-in-law (who runs an online model shop) that the digital is just too fancy if your just the amateur racer.

So I bought the sport and pan on getting some more cars and track to maybe's make a Le Sarthe look alike wink
