Hi Guys, been on here for a while, love looking at the readers cars section, some lovely stuff there!

I thought i would share some pictures of my 205 gti, I built most of it myself, had a little help with engine work etc from local guys down at Sandwich in Kent.

This was a quick pick of us queing up on the ferry for le mans in 2008!

Right I'll add some more details now the picture thing has worked! Im a bit rubbish on computers!!

I bought this of a mate as it had a knackered bottom end, so i whipped out the 1.9 engine and thought about what to put in it.
The choice for me was a MI16 or 2.0 8v turbo. As I had just bought my first house in 05 money was tight so I went for the 2.0 8v turbo from a 406 sri, the reason for this was good BHP for your buck!

Whilst having no money and thinking about the engine, I stripped out the interior, ran the brake and fuel lines inside the car, fitted poly bushes, spax suspension (soon to be Gaz) painted everything, hubs, wish bones etc.

My first engine was rubbish! I bought it from a scrap yard for £150 and it was basically junk! So on the internet i went and got a 56,000 mile engine with turbo for £380 and we continued with it!

I got in touch with 2 guys from Sandwich in Kent who I met through the 205 gti drivers forum, they help put my new engine in, put a new lumpier cam in it from a 205 1.9 cat car and got the thing running!

I took the beast home and set about getting it ready for the le mans trip, I fitted 2 seats and harness's, got a mate to make me an ali tank which i have mounted in the rear and genrally give it a tidy up.

So the story so far! I have done about 3000 miles in it since le mans, de stickered it ( want the stealth look! ) and did some more bits to it!

I have had the T25 turbo re done by The Turbo Centre as it was smoking a bit

I have had the rear beam re furbished as a bearing had seized

I have put on a 406 non abs break master cylinder to improve the braking and to go with the GTI 6 brakes

Just bought some GTI 6 front brakes to put on it this weekend and a FSI fuel pressure thingy!

Few engine shots above, It running a Fensport bleed valve, cossie 2wd inter cooler, Bailey dump valve ( bit chav I know! ) , MI16 clutch, 205 Cat cam.

I forgot to mention what it goes like, well pretty good with all the weight out of it, I think its running around 200 bhp but want to get on a RR to find out for sure.

I have spent around £3k building it, I have been thinking about something to replace it, but I'll have to spend quite a bit to get something quicker, caterfield,E36 M3, scooby? So I think I'll chuck some more dosh at it till I have some proper dosh to play with!

I am thinking neon orange wheels for my track tyres? thoughts?

Hope you have enjoyed reading about my car.

BTW my daily driver is an Audi A3 170 TDI which you can see the rear end in the last picture, really pleased with the Audi.

If you want to have a look further at my build and look at some other nice 205's take a look at:

Superb! Made a good read thanks, loving the stealth look. Keep it how it is, however I think you should go anthracite with the wheels.

If you are after a Cheap T28, sign up to SXOC. S14 200sx come with them as standard and are always being whipped off to have bigger ones put on smile

Looks fab. I've been fighting an ignition/fuelling issue with mine for ages, and increasingly I'm thinking I should just splurge some cash on a GTI-6 or Xantia turbo conversion.

Compressor housing doesn't clear the master cylinder I am afraid. Though I am pretty sure he will know that anyway as its been covered on the forum quite a bit(205gti drivers)!

You should get it rr'd, I still havent got mine done and mine is very similar spec, though I have a xsi cam to go in which is meant to identical to the DKZ. I would hope about 200bhp but the main problem is the bloody turbine housing and exhaust manifold as its so restrictive!

If you actually watch the boost gauge it will make 1.2 bar pretty easily at 3500rpm but as soon as the revs increase they drop to about 0.7-0.8 bar at 5k+ as you just cant get enought air through the turbine side!

Yeah the T25s run out of puff at the top end, but they do make a nice surge in the midrange for an old turbo.

Wont it fit if you rotate the compressor housing?

Looks nice, although I'd be tempted by a few stickers on a track car like that. I like the grille!

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

As for the turbo, yes I will keep an eye out on the 200SX forum for a T28, the only thing is the flange is different to the T25 so you need a turbo technics manifold, but yes one day i want to do this mod to it as well as Saab red injectors.

I have it set at 0.9 bar, it gives you a good shove in the back but your right it does run out of steam after about 3500-4000 rpm.
I may wind the boost up a touch but the ECU cuts if it gets above 1.2 bar, with a basic bleed valve i dont want to get a boost spike and cause it to cut out.

The car looks kind of the same, I have a normal number plate on the front (Just had an MOT!) and got the grill graphics on again, I like them, bit of a tribute to the group B days!

So just going to put on the GTI6 brakes this weekend and give it a polish!!

If you see me about in it near Ashford Kent give us a wave! I must get a PH sticker on it some where!

Dont use a bleed valve! they are leathal with boost spikes. Get a Ball and spring boost controller from ebay for £15.

Got you! I'll have a look on the bay, how are these better than a bleed valve??

I know thats the general consensus but I went from using a proper dawes device back to a bleed valve as they ball and spring was just so bloody agressive coming on boost. You have to remember that a stripped 205 (like mine is) will weigh anything between 800-850kg, having 220+lbft come in with a bang through 195 section front tyres is pretty hardwork. Mine will spin them up coming on boost in 4th in the wet if you dont feather the throttle, not becuase there is that much power but because it comes in so hard which is a trait of the ball and spring type boost controllers.

I have found a bleed valve set to about a bar will come in much more progressively and will only overshoot to about 1.1 bar briefly then drop down again. Aslong as you set it up with a boost gauge and keep an eye on it they are fine generally. I just prefer the slighty softer power delivery they give, the ecu controlled solenoid is best but without remapping the ecu which is expensive or having a standalone ecu you cant really use it effectively unless you run at 7psi (standard boost).

Hi Guys, thanks for the info on the Bleed Valve vs Dawes Valve, not sure what to do! It goes ok as it is so may just leave it with a Bleed Valve on it, unless I can get one of those posh electronic boost controllers?!

Bit of an update, Put the GTI6 brakes on it last weekend, man what a difference! They clear the wheels with about a fag paper between the caliper and hub but they work great. Ready for its first track day at Brands on 1st July!
