CR500s on ebay

There were some new CR500 tyres on ebay so I thought I'd give them a go. They seem to be the genuine article but they have had the date stamp and batch number ground off! At the price, I wasn't expecting 'factory fresh' so I'm not too concerned but wondered if anyone knows anything about their origins.

I've an open mind . . . . and I'm sure there could be other reasons for doing this.

There can't be much use for CR500's outside the Caterham community, and judging by the feedback, there have been a fair number of these tyres sold - just thought someone might have heard something.

Factory rejects? At the very least definitely out of date which isn't the best.

I've heard of ebay - isn't it the place where 'people' sell stolen goods and overpriced tat?
