I sold my Harley to a German dealer two weeks ago. He's paid up no problem & is collecting tonight(only giving me 4 hours notice!)
I would like to clarify which parts of the V5 go to him, me or the DVLA. The export section(section 11) looks like I would use it if I were taking the bike abroad for my own use?
Any advise on section 6(New Keeper Details) & section 10(New Keeper Supplement) to be retained by the new keeper.

I would say the form of permanent export. I can not remember the part number on the document.

If you can take a copy of the form in full, give him/her the original full form minus the permanent export slip from the V5. This is what I had to do when registering my car abroad outside of the UK. Send to the DVLA the export slip that you have and then they shall de register the bike from the UK as well as note that you are no longer the owner.

Hope this helps,

Andy.

Why should you do anything? You are just selling the car, it is up to the new buyer if he exports or not, how do you know at the time of sale he is exporting? he may be buying to keep in the UK for holidays, I've lived overseas most of my life, but I've kept car in the UK for my home trips.I've also exported two cars and it is up to the exporter.

I just sold my Jag to a guy from Finland. I rang DVLA first to find out what paperwork to complete etc.

DVLA said- Just send them a letter saying sold to foreign resident who is permanently exporting vehicle abroad !
( I was surprised it was as simple as that !)
AND... complete the transfer of ownership section (as for normal UK sale) & give main part of V5 to buyer. He probably needs that to register car in Germany (the Finland guy certainly needed it)
ALSO.. Germany may recognise the MoT certificate (Finland does) so he may need that too (if applicable to your bike)

p.s. I also got the buyer to sign a form of contract/sale note to say he was exporting car also & I kept a copy-might be advisable to cover your back.

I am here in Ireland and have bought several UK registered vehicles. Each time I get the V5 which I need in Ireland to re register the car/bike, the seller just keeps the permanent export section. But cant you photocopy the whole lot before you hand it over in case the DVLA say anything.
