Transmission Whine
Discussion
I have some transmission whine when decelerating.
It disappears when the clutch is disengaged and is more prominent in the lower gears.
Its a 96 so I assume it has the later gearbox.
What level of whine is normal?
I haven't yet check the fluid levels and don't want to be going under the car until I do the service.

TADTS. Minor whines are, I think, nothing to worry about but can get worse so keep an eye/ear on it. My 4.0 developed quite a whine due, I guess , to doing very little mileage (my excuse is I had a 500 as well at the time). It went from not much to very noticeable in 1-2,000 miles, and was a bit of a bugger at sale time.
