Anyone out there toying with the idea of visiting Mark Adams for some fine tuning and TLC should just get on with it! I'm too tired to give you all the details as I left home this morning a half eight and have only just returned but will say that the transformation is nothing short of miraculous. The car's throttle response in now so, so much crisper and general 'manners' are now flawless. My session was booked for eleven but sadly did not get on the rollers till half three due to issues with Andy's (ph alias Guillotine) Griff. By seven this evening I was all tuned up, re-mapped and ready to go and what a transformation - I drove away in a different car. I met Mark at Cheltenham's Mech Repairs for the session. Between himself and MR's owner Brian they did a sterling job. I'm not the type for modifying cars in the slightest but just wanted the Chim to be running tip-top after investing my hard earned (or borrowed!) last July. Both Mark and Brian commented on the cleanness of the Chim and said she was generally set up well during the initial diagnostic - Mark felt the car had "much potential" for fine tuning, and right he was! (Still grinning!). Go on....you know you want to.

Errmm yeh. Three and a half hours of rolling road, three and a half hours of Mark's time, an 'American' chip and a new set of spark plugs - £880 all in. Sounds alot and if I'm honest with myself I could do without it but it was worth every penny. Car bl**dy flies now and so much more 'freely'.

But Kev is actually raving about the drivability of the car after the session so don't just take the increase in power and divide by the £880 and look at the value on that basis. Rich...

Im actually more intrested in the Torque curve than the BHP.As torque is what gives the car its "drivability".As ktg1000 has nice drivable car i am intrested in seeing the graph as this is what i am after (i.e driveability)

Rich..thanks for the comments and Pies I'm going to try and answer as best I can. I intend to get the graph scanned and stick it on the site. Now the embarrasing bit is that I am not all that clued up when it comes to bhp, lbft etc..I wanted a TVR and bought the Chim more or less purely from an asthetic perspective. I wanted to make sure in my mind that the car I'd bought was running tip-top, hence the session yesterday. Mark has assured me of that and I'm happy that I parted with my money with what he called "a real peach". From what I understand Mark managed to get a gain of 11bhp and 10lbft. My graph shows a max 195bhp @ 5366rpm AFTER the treatment and 184bhp @ 5260rpm before with torque peaking @ 204lbft @ 4255rpm and 194lbf @ 4000rpm respectively. Now he seemed quite impressed with all this but if I'm honest I was hoping for bigger figures from the outset BUT I cannot complain, as I say the car seems to take off now like a rocket and soooo much crisper with much better temperment. How do these figures look?

Mark knows his stuff, and your BHP looks very good (typical is about 10bhp lower than your start)im not sure what is typical torque for a Chim.
Im certainly not doubting your cars driveability in fact i would like to get exactly the same out of my car.To me driveability is far more important than numbers.

It's interesting that 'driveability' seems to go a bit deeper than simply numbers.

However the numbers after the £sign will keep mine as standard for the foreseeable!

Torque curve looks a very nice shape i.e flat no big peak. This gives the car the good "driveability".

The actual torque figs look a bit low but to be honest if thr car drives nice its irrelevent

I have to disagree with Pies - it looks nothing like an elephant more of a Humpback Whale.

ktg1000 - are those figures flywheel HP/Lbft or at the rear wheels? Just wondering ...

When tvrred and I saw Mark at Cheltenham he said that the rolling road there gave figures about 30 bhp and lb ft lower than figures from Power Engineering. This may make the figures more representative.

But as you say its how the car drives that's the important bit.

I was also told this on the day, 30 bhp/lbft lighter than the road should be.

Don't know....hopefully the wheels, if I have to factor a 20% + loss through transmission etc then I'm not left with much!
