Clarkson ,i mean....some people don't like him ...but Top Gear on a sunday brightens up my day/week!
Didn't get chance to take the 400 for a spin today, which was a shame in view of near cloudless skies, but watching him pole that Holden (minarro?) around their test track cheered me up no end (what do you mean you don't like 5.7 V8s? )
The toyota Hi-Lux piece had me as creased as the vehicle itself
Viva top gear ,viva Clarkson et al, and VIVA TVR!
p.s.anyone know what track /airfield they do their tests on?

The airfield was Dunsfold which was actually final assembly for Hunters before the Harrier days. I was almost done to death there during one of Hawker Siddeley, as was, Family Days. I was wandering across the grassy bit when their tame Hawker Hart tried to land on me....
Now onto the big bad Holden, oops I meant GMC GTO, oops, no I meant Vauxhall. Take your pick they are basically the same car. Those who went to last years motor show would have seen the Holden badged one on the Vauxhall stand. This was then shown around a bit, until it ended up at Millbrook to be assessed for what would be required to meet EEC rules. However...some senior manager type, got a drive of it, unfortunately into the crash barrier on the banking... Although it was mainly panel damage, it was writen off and was last seen in the hands of Universal Salvage...
I wonder if it would be cheaper to import a Holden or a left hooker GM GTO version. Answers please to: I want a big V8 coupe as cheap as poss...

These originate from Australia and are Holden Monaros. Named after the V8 Bathurst winning cars of the 70s.
The stock Monaro cost around A$65k and puts out 245KW. Or there's a HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) version for closer to A$90k which has everything and puts out 300KW. One helluva lot of bang for your buck and you won't have to convert it to RHD.
I had the same engine (225KW) in my last car (SS Commodore), which was the sedan on which the Monaro was based. Sold it, bought the wife a Vectra and myself a wedge with the change.
