TT XL W Europe...lost all maps

Had the TT XL W Europe for 3 months now.....excellent bit of kit.

However, started to back up maps onto laptop and , lost everything off the Tom Tom and nothing backed up to laptop. TT screen kept saying no maps were found on start up.

Called TT customer service who were very helpful....but they couldn't understand how it had happened. However, 3 days later a prepaid packing box arrived and I promptly sent it off to TT. Within 3 days, it arrived back with a pre-printed note saying no fault had been found!!! I was about to explode but switched it on anyway. Guess what??? All the maps were back on the TT

I imagine they merely installed a new SD card, or rewrote the one in there. "No fault found" is a perfectly reasonable diagnosis if "you" somehow managed to delete the maps off the SD card...

No SD card in my TT so lost the maps from the hard drive. TT therefore must have quietly reinstalled them because they certainly were missing after my attempted backup.

I have since succesfully backed up the maps onto my laptop and they are still on the TT hard drive.

All's well that ends well anyway.
