Oil Cooler Hose Connections ?

FInally got round to refitting the radistor back into the V8 Wedge and I might have a problem.

As you may, or may not know, the oil cooler is attached to the radiator so the two come out as a single unit. When I removed them I disconnected the two hoses, for the oil cooler, from what I assume is the oil cooler thermostat.

I cannot remember which hose goes onto which connector on the thermostat. Is this critical or can I connect either hose to either connector ?

It's just a guess mind, but I imagine that the feed goes to the thermostat and the otehr is the return - Streaky.
