This tribute to the recently departed Peter Wheeler mentions a Wellington Tuscan racer owned by Andrew Whittaker that has 'gone into retirement'. I'd never heard of it - anyone know anything about this car?

That's right... Andrew Whittaker owned (owns?) a Tuscan racer... used to be seen yearly at the Whittakers classic meeting at manfeild... was always fiercely quick... although not a patch on Hansen's beast obviously. Was always great to watch... happy memories smile

Thanks for that link Don.

Yes there are three Tuscan Racers in NZ but we don't know the whereabouts of the Whittakers Tuscan. They also owned a griff which was built as a race car with roll cage, small tank, no gauges etc which was brought back to road trim and now resides in Chch and is horrendously quick.

Would love to hear from anyone who knows the location of Whittakers Tuscan Racer.

NZ has a great collection of TVRs

Some of the more interesting / rare in these parts are

Sargaris x 1
T350 x 1
Tuscan Speed 6 x 2
Tuscan Racer x 3
Cerbera x 3
4.5 Griff x 1
4.3 Griff x 2
V8S x 1
3000S Turbo x 1
Tuscan V8 x 1
Tuscan V6 x 1
Grantura x 2

There is a guy that has a small collection of cars in downtown Auckland. He has a white 280i or 380i, I am not sure which one it is, but is wedge shaped.

Isn't that Jim Gamsby's? - or did he sell it?

Not sure, it is an old guy who keeps a collection of cars in a small garage on Beach Rd. It is amazing how he fits so many in there, some of them are milimetres apart. There is a lovely Citroen AX GT in there as well. I don't the TVR has run for a while, all the times I have seen it has been in the corner, behind four or so other cars, and covered in dust.

Hi guys
Just caught up on the blogs from last month.
Jim Gamsby's wedge is still at his house, as are 2 Chim's and an S2 that he is working on..!
I have an S3 leaving the UK next week...its a 1990 and we will be presenting it for registration in January...just as it makes the 20 years old Classic category.
Looking forward to summer roof down driving.!

For those that knew Jim Gamsby as mentioned in previous posts, sadly he passed away last night having lost his battle to cancer.

Oh my that’s a name from the past, what tragic news.
Jim was Kent TVR organiser late 80’s early 90’s.
Meets at the Windmill pub Hollingbourne. I remember him and wife talking about immigrating at that time.
Very sorry to hear it.
