Always suspected I prefer the Chim 5 spoke wheels over the Griff 500 7 spoke. After a visit to the factory today I have decided I want to change my Griff's to 5 Spokes (16" front and rear). My 500 is a Yr2000. Will people expect the car to have Griff's on resale ? Will this affect my trade in price ? Am I the only person who prefers the 5 spokes because reading this forum a lot of people want to upgrade to Griff's. Which reminds me - Unmarked 16"'s and 15"'s will soon be posted on the classified section if any one is interested for £400. Or would be interested in a swop for 4*16" in same condition.

Well, I reckon you'll easily get a swap dela going cos lots of Cim owners will want to have the 500 wheels on their 400s ...

But, have you seen a Griff with Chim wheels on ... or do you just like the Chim wheels ... on Chims ... ?!

Best to go to a local meet and get the jacks out and try a swap there and then just to make sure you like 'em. Or get busy with Photoshop.

And if I were buying your car, I'd want the Griff 500 wheels on it I'm afraid. vSO maybe keep 'em and change back when you sell?

Personally I prefer my cars original but in this case I don't think changing the wheels would put many buyer off, if at all, because Chimaera wheels are still pukka TVR wheels and not aftermarket jobbies.

Would put me off tbh. I was even dubious about the Afterburner lights on my 500.

There aren't many distinguishing features between a 400 and the 500, so I guess I like the sublty of the different wheels.

I guess if you put some nasty aftermarket alloys on then that would effect the sale more dramatically.

Realistically, if you're not desperate for the £400, keep the rims and then offer them with teh car if, and when, you decide to sell.

I agree the griff 7 spoke wheels are nasty, my 400 came from the factory with them. The normal 5 spokes are much nicer...

Although if i were changing to tvr wheels i'd go for the new 16inch spider wheel / brake upgrade ( your a braver man than me running a 500 on standard tvr brakes !!!)

IF anything that should up the resale as its a pukka tvr upgrade...

I changed my wheels for "nasty after market" 17" ( along with the brakes and suspension but thats another story)

I did toy with the idea of flogging the old 7 spokes but in the end i left them sulking in the cellar.

one point about 5 & 7 spoke wheels i believe they are getting rare and are no longer made so swapping to them might not be a good idea long term as they may be difficult to replace.

Due to the rarity of TVR wheels I would hang on to the original set somehow, otherwise someone will only use it as a bargaining tool against you when you come to sell it one day.. (well I would anyway ) and that may cost you more than the few hundred you get for them..

Cheers,
Matt.

i tend to agree. Keep hold of them for resale purposes. I prefer the 5 spoke wheels too but would at least like the option if I were to buy a 500....

Keep your seven spokes, and put them back on the car when you sell.also think £400 is a little too cheap for them.

I perfer the 7 spokes on a 500 as it marks them out as special, I would keep them and sell with car, if I was going to buy a 500 I would expect the correct wheels.
