Ok... I know I'm bound to get flamed for this. Especially being a bassist (not named Nick the wink ) but why are we not allowed to like Nickelback?

My GF is a fan and I just borrowed a CD, I actually enjoy it. OK so they are commercial, but sounds good to me. Favourite track so far is "Animals"

Flack jacket on...

Animals is a great track.

They put on a true "rock" show live, and look like they enjoy doing it.

There are far worse out there.

Lets not even mention the current monstrosity that uses the Echo beach backing.

They've had one or two good tracks (e.g Savin' Me).....but some awful ones too.

(the same could be said for a lot of bands though)

IMO, i agree, they are Very good. Saw them at O2 couple of months back, Extremely good live.
Sure, they have some commercially biased songs, but mostly bloody good rock songs.
Good band, i give them 8/10.

I agree with the OP, I took my daughter to a Nickelback concert earlier in the year not expecting much at all, but in all honestly I was blown away.

Following that I purchased their new album (Dark Horse I think it's called) and I still to this day can't see what they huge problem is.

Perhaps it's just because of that thread about Rockstar (which is a st song) and the idiot bassist that pollouted it with all his drivle.

I've certainly heard worse bands - and I'll admit their live show was a cut above what I was expecting!

Pop music, just with long hair and played through a mesa rectifier. A modern day version of bon jovi really. Makes me laugh how all the townies listen to it on radio 1, like it and then think they're metallers all of a sudden.

They should be hung for that rock star song they did.

four words. radio friendly unit shifters.

"photograph" and "if today was your last day".... jesus if i was in a band and a guy came to me with those songs suggesting them we play them, he wouldnt be in a band with me anymore. what a piece of whimsical, dire, psuedo-social commentary ste!

If you like it, you like it. I personally don't but that isn't due to me hiding behind any kind of stereotype of music.
I actually am hugely amused by the people that refuse to listen to Pendulum because it's considered Chavvy, My Chemical Romance because it's emo or whatever.

My music collection ranges from super chilled ambient stuff to slipknot via Ja Rule, and the Prodigy, and I really don't care what anyone has to say about it smile

Personally I they're utter garbage, but if you like them, who cares. It'd be boring if everyone liked the same thing, and I'm sure Chad Scrotum or whatever he's called is sat in a far nicer house than I am, with far larger bank balance than I have, not giving a monkey's about who likes them or not.

Still think this is funny though, I'm sure if you listen hard enough you can hear him crying inside http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7F3O6WYfHQ
