An alternative to the Tracker(tm) system?

OK, so the police won't be following your stolen motor with this in it (just you in your car with your mobile phone for tracking, your unfed boxer dog and some mates!) but it would appear (or have I misread the spec?) to represent an economical alternative to an expensive tracker system. There's a battery, or a permanently powered, option for another £50. That's £700 + annual contract versus £200 flat.

Tracker isn't £700 a year though. Mine was £700 for a lifetime (i.e. until I sell the car) subscription, or there was the option of a £350 first year and £250 subsequent years.

Okay, it's not £200 flat, but neither is it £700 a year.

There are also other 'tracker' systems as well.

As it requires you to do the 'finding' you'll either have to have another car, hire a taxi, or get friends to drive you around looking for it. Then you've got to do the citizen's arrest that I'm sure you were planning on performing - although I'm not sure what the police will think of you turning up somewhere to reclaim your car/cat/goldfish with a gang of baseball wielding mates
