Just bought a '65 El Camino as a bit of an impulse buy through ebay....

Any suggestions as to where I should look for the cheapest insurance? As I'm only 25 and it's 350ci wonder if there will be any problems, or if classic car policies are more reasonable?

Try MSM, they insure my Plymouth.
I reckon you'll get a decent deal.

Thanks to those who offered suggestions. Cheapest in the end were MCE followed closely by Flux, for anyone who's interested, I tried at least ten specialists.

My age and lack of experience with LHD counted me out with several insurers, and I managed arguments with two of top matches on google; one computer-says-no because I couldn't specify exactly which car the (non-standard engine) had come from, the other because they insisted to know how much I had bought the car for, and would not insure it for a realistic market value. What if I were given the car??
