OK long story but try to keep it short..

Bought the car from a dude on here few months ago...found the rear main seal leaking..took it to porsche they replaced it under warrenty with a full engine rebuild .. the car had previous to me purchasing it had a RMS done at reading OPC...anyway less than a 1,000 miles after a full rebuild in the last 3 weeks the RMS has gone again....so 3 seals on my car going backwards and forwards to LEEDS OPC...for them to remove the engine / box AGAIN..then there 40km drive EACH time they put the seal in ..engine /box back out...they will be up to near on a 1,000miles on my car..its been there and back 3 times now...i have now told them i DO NOT want another seal in as this is obviously NOT rectifying the problem...the ONLY way forward i can see is a engine...as them taking the car back and forwards..3 seals later..1 full engine rebuild is simply devaluing my car...NOT HAPPY TO SAY THE LEAST.

Whats your thoughts guys..

What was the reason for the rebuild?

Really bad news it must be driving you nuts!!
How old is the car? and how many miles?
I have heard so many problems with 997 GT3RS I cannot understand how they got it so wrong.
A few 996's had issues but nothing like this!
At what point can you reject a car as not fit for purpose? As you are not the original owner this may be more problematic. Do they lend you another GT3 to use while yours is at the doctors?

Bang goes the theory of the GT1 blocks being RMS free/bomb proof then. Looks like another issue maybe causing the problem - maybe try taking it to another OPC. Not sure if an RMS problem has ever been resolved by giving the customer a new engine though i could be wrong(my 2003 C4S had RMS fixed underwarranty twice). I am sure someone else may be able to comment.

Not sure about that, this is a 997gt3rs not a 996gt3rs, AFAIK they use a different block to gt1 block?

I am sure its the Increase in power from the 996 RS to the 997RS

it must put a huge strain on the engine

not many issues with RMS on the 996 RSs

What about some complimentry luggage

Why does an engine rebuild devalue your car keith?

Sounds like there is a vacuum pipe not connected, this will drop the crankcase pressure and cause the seal to leak, some GT3 engines have low vac to start with and have been replaced with a new one.

Wait a minute here - is this thread about the extra miles being put on the car when it visits your OPC devaluing the car or that fact that Porsche cant seem to fix it?

I'd be more concerned that they can't sort the problem rather than the fact the odo is showing a few hundred more TBH

all being equal, it can't be much fun having a leaky car

what's the next step? indy?

its about Porsche not being able to fix there BULLET PROOF ENGINES after 3 attempts !!!!!!!!...whilst putting plenty of miles on my car that it should not need on a 2007RS...it should be sat in my garage with 1,000miles less than whats on the speedo now...dont get me wrong im porsche through and through but they have had my car twice in a month..one for a complete engine rebuild with new RMS ... and now its back there for the RMS AGAIN....im sure anyone would be fked off

Have you escalated your displeasure to GB customer services? It's just a simple phone call and they can intervene on your behalf.

FYI - my 996RS had a "Front" main seal leak??
