Footwell vents, their extraction..
Discussion
Whilst bored in a traffic jam I made the mistake of trying to adjust the footwell air vent, all the others swivel so I though this would. Nope a pop and now I cannot close it which is an arse when it comes to demist time.
I have a feeling they are pull out, can someone confirm or suggest otherwise before I break something else.
Also any ideas where I can get a new one if this one proves beyond superglue??

Footwell vents in our car (late '97 4.2) are the same as the vents in the bottom of the dash board (above the stereo) - g*d it sounds like I've been drinking with that description !
Stick your head in the footwell when you get home & it should be easy to shut them once you can actually see what your doing !

I don't have them ('98 4.2)
My sum total of vents is:
3x 'eyeball' style -- one set in to the face of the dashboard on the passenger side, near the window, and the other under the steering column above the driver's right knee. Plus the one in the steering wheel (obviously).
2x 'flaps' style, one in each footwell. Basically one either side of the transmission tunnel.
Little holes along the edge of the windscreen (demister vents).
It's my impression that the "eyeball" ones only chuck out cold air.

I have two flap vents on the underside of the top part of the dash, in the middle.
An eye ball between my legs (oo'er) on the steering column, and an eyeball at the far end of the dash by the passenger door.
I have two flap vents one in each footwell, from the tunnel. It is the drivers side one which I seem to have broken.
I also have the small hole demist vents along the bottom of the windscreen, these are pretty crap.
Whilst we are on the subject does anyone have any top tips about increasing the airflow to the demist?

Although looking at the photo now - it's blured, but you can see what I was talking about !
As for increased airflow - NO IDEA ! But I'll be keeping an eye on this thread (turning on hot & cold fans & air-con is the best way I've found of demisting.....)

Here is a picture of my dash. I think I screwed up the white balance on the camera (the dashboard is sage green and black!), and the reason the radar detector looks like it's pointing the wrong way is because I had to use wide-angle from the driver's seat.
But anyway, as you can see there are no vents in the black part of the dashboard.
