I'm trying to read nothing into pre-season. But we've gone to the other side of the world to play some games to persuade a bloke to stay who's turned our contract offer down and lost two games badly.

Not looking great and can't see the point in playing exactly the same team as most of last year FFS.

Hopefully there'll improve - I still need to get some tickets for the sampdoria game in a couple of weeks.

Wondered what that was you'd found there but it's old news. We know they told BFS to up his game and to play a more attacking style of play. It's common knowledge that they're not happy with some of the acquisitions, obviously they wouldn't have splashed $15m on Andy Carroll in hindsight but I can't see why it's bad news for this season. We've bought some interesting young players and Alardyce knows what's expected of him, targets are always necessary in a results orientated role. Sam now knows his.

If he scores goals that keep us in the PL I'd take him. Doubt we've any chance/intention of paying the wages that he's seeking though so suspect that he'll be off to russia/turkey/middle east for a final pay day.
