Anyone know if we're in Europe (hopefully not imo)?
Yes, I am 99% certain we are. The club have cancelled all on pitch activities in May & June and are relaying the turf earlier than usual. Liverpool & Spurs will qualify for Europa League through league position 5th & 6th so we will get the fair play league place. Personally I don't see it as a problem. Instead of a bunch of pre-season friendlies we will have some competitive matches to get us into shape for the final season at the Bolyen.
Slaven Bilić has, incidentally, left Beşiktaş - I could see his combative style going down well with the fans. Despite only spending 18 months at the club he did leave a lasting impression with his buccaneering approach, much in they style of Billy Bonds.
I think BFS has fallen to fan-power, let's just hope the Daves have made the right decision.
I think Europe will be a disaster. Squads' far too small as it stands & extremely thin on quality outside of 9 or 10 players.
Still way we're playing we won't make it through the qualifying rounds so probably won't have any bearing.
Personally as an ST I don't want to watch all my games on a sunday either, prefer saturday for football.

I agree with the Europe thing, actually a bit embarrassing . Wouldn't surprise if they organised an open top bus parade to celebrate FFS. New manager, new players and only 5 weeks to prepare, and having bought a ticket for next year it's doubtful I'll be able to get to the Sunday games.
Anyway thanks Sam, for stabilising the club in the PL, and some good memories . Just a shame you couldn't just engage with the fans a bit more, and believe that there's more ways to defend a lead/nick a point than 11 behind the ball.

I would prefer David Moyes.

At last. Not going to pretend I'm disappointed.
Sadly BFS never "got" what WH are all about which is IMO: decent entertaining football played by people who care. Cup runs and occasionally upsetting the top six. For the first couple of months of this season I thought he'd finally cracked it but that was just another dream that faded and died.
We know we're highly unlikely to ever win the PL so our only realistic chance of silverware is in the Cups, I'll, personally, never forget the disgrace that was played out at Forest last season and the abject surrender to City in the semi of the League Cup.
Credit it where it's due though, in bare hard facts Sam undoubtedly delivered what he was tasked with. Just a shame he couldn't have done it in the famous(infamous) "West Ham way".

I'm not of BFS but, didn't you lot get relegated a few years back playing "the West Ham way"? With a squad "too good to go down"? It's a big big risk the year before going into the new stadium. With Sam you knew you'd be staying up, whether you enjoyed it was another matter entirely.

Don't think we've played the "west ham way" regularly since about 1986; can't see it returning anytime soon either. Open acting football seems possible though, depending on the oppo & provided that our attackers are actually fit and we acquire at least two new midfielders to accompany Kouyate.
Pressing rather than defending 1-0 home leads would've made a huge difference this season as well.

The season that really hurt was 2003 when we were relegated with 42 points. With players like David James, Joe Cole, Jermain Defoe, Michael Carrick, Glen Johnson and Paolo Di Canio we really did have a team that was "too good to go down". Of course, being West Ham they managed it! I just don't think you'd see anything Approaching entertainment under him (or AVB and to a lesser extent McClaren).
Bilic is revered at WH - for why, I'm not entirely sure. He was only there for a season and a half I thought? His record at Besiktas isn't too bad but it's hardly a hugely competitive league is it?
I just think Bilic would be an appointment based on nostalgia. That said, could you imagine him in charge with PDC as his No. 2?!? It would be carnage every week - especially if they had an argument on the touch line

Bilich was also a success managing Croatia.Bilic is revered at WH - for why, I'm not entirely sure. He was only there for a season and a half I thought? His record at Besiktas isn't too bad but it's hardly a hugely competitive league is it?
