Genuine HP cartirdges are so damn expensive, and Cartridge World refills seem to keep conking out or drying up early - any recommendations either for cheap genuine ones or clones?
Or should I just get another printer and save in the long run? Current model is 970CXi. Relatively low use: business letters, quality graphics and the odd pukka photo too.
Has anyone done a survey on running costs between the different makes?
All suggestions appreciated

Personally, I used my Epson photo printer so infrequently that the cartridges started to cost a fortune as I used more ink clearing it for use than I did actually printing anything.

My solution was to buy a small HP laser for the occasional letters and black&white stuff (you can get 'em for around £100), and upload my photos to Jessops online printing service. I worked out it only costs about 10p more per photo (10"x8" prints) or a couple of pence for normal prints to get them to do it, and its waaaaay better than my inkjet.

Buy remaunfacturered cartridges I use www.inkcycle.co.uk
about 50% off new price I get a failure rate of about 1 in 9 but these I exchange.

Ok, here's the deal on printers.
Cheap printers are expensive to run.
Expensive printers are cheap(er) to run. (colour lasers, being the exception)

This is a general rule of thumb, but you can pretty much guess that those printers that get given away when you buy a new pc will cost bucks to run.

If you are printing mainly b&w then get a laser. Inkjets are really expensive to use for b&w printing and don't have the duty cycles of a laser.

It's the old ploughing fields with a Ferrari adage....
