Has anybody fitted a firetrace under the bonnet of a S series in the last year or two. Having consulted the Bible it all looks straight forward to fit, that was untill I investigated the cost £300 from Firetrace. I just want to protect my pride and joy without speaking to the bank manager again. Anybody any iteas.

Have you considered a standard plumbed-in fire extinguisher? It gets awfully hot under there and it would be a shame if the thing went off accidentally? Alternatively you can get an AFFF hand-held for about £50, you can use this to fire fires anywhere not just under the bonnet. My preferred mounting position for this is sideways under the driver's knees where you can get at it while you're seated, also from outside the car, and it's out of sight from casual passers by.
