I'm planning to get my Mum a Sat Nav for her Birthday. I am going to get her a TomTom but can't decide which one to get. I'm trying to choose between the following deals:
Classic

XL

Classic XL
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TomTom-Classic-Satellite-N...
What's the difference?

Well it wasn't there when I looked, honest!I have a 530 , my dad has the cheaper XL. They do the same basic stuff well. Mine benefits from:
being lighter and thinner (for the same size screen)
much longer battery life
auto zoom , so as you approach a junction the display zooms in
traffic updates and weather forecasts (via bluetooth to the mobile phone)
If its just basic satnav without the bells and whistles go for the cheapest XL you can find, the smaller screen ones are not very good IMHO.

Well I ended up getting this:

TomTom 520 + free carry case for £115. It can be updated free to the latest maps and will then support IQ routes and Advanced Lane Guidance (same as the 530). For only a tenner more than the basic One Classic, I think that's a pretty good deal, even if it is refurbished.

Same bit of kit i've got. Had it a couple of years now, does everything i require. Downloaded the US map and used it this past month, in 6363 miles it never let me down.
