basically i bought one back in january from amazon, but never really use motorways so didn't notice anything wrong.

but im going to silverstone on sunday, and put in the postcode and its taking me all on a roads, it will not take me on motorways.

i have tried it on shortest, and fastest routes but still the same,no motorways.

and i have all avoidancies turned off.

so anyone know what could be wrong, or how i could fix it, as i would prefer to use motorways so i can get there quicker, so i can get up later (have to be there for 7)

and the route is from GL15 6QA to NN12 8TN, so if you have a garmin, does it take you via motorways or a roads for this journey?

cheers for any help

google maps doesn't use the motorways and reckons journey time of 2hrs 24. My TomTom uses the M5, M42, M40 and reckons the journey is 2hs 24. My intuition says that to arrive at Silverstone at 7am then on a saturday its going to make the best part of bugger all which way you go.

If you want to go the motorway and you Garmin wont route that way just ignore it until you don't know where youre going and let it guide you the last bit.

thanks for that, i think ill just go with that, it seems to think it will only take 1H50 for the 90 miles which is different to the google maps route. so i will see what happens.

I believe know what the problem is, my mate did this & lots of people have the exact same issue........by mistake you have activated the pedestrian mode & your Nuvi thinks you are walking, not to driving.

Go to Settings - System - Check Usage mode..........set it to Automobile

The 200 is the basic entry-level model & will show averages as travelled by road, irrespective of pedestrian/automobile settings.

Good tip - I had the same the other week and could not understand how a 2hr trip on the M6 suggested it would take a lot longer, and it was constantly telling me to turn off at exits. Set back to Automobile, done.

Doh!
