Just whipped the resonators out of my SL55

Finally got my arse in gear to get the resonators taken out this week. £100 done by local tyre and exhaust spot.
Haven't had much opportunity to test it yet but it does make a nice subtle difference I think. The weather's been too minging to get the roof down but with the windows down it has a deeper sound to it.
At idle / very low engine speeds you can actually hear a bit of the V8 woofle as well. (That slightly motor boat sound). It also makes more noise in the mid range as the revs increase. The top end seems to be very similar to what is was before - which is good as I love the sound of the 55 with the taps open.
From outside and with the top down I think the differences will be even more noticeable.
In summary, worth doing

I'm not very mechanically minded either but was surprised how easy I found it!
As for the sound - mental it is not. A bit louder but definitely nowhere near `antisocial`. If you want that I reckon you'll need to chop the back boxes out as well.

I am in the same boat with my SL500 - just been quoted £499+VAT for a cat back including choice of tailpipes by a guy in Leeds - rather better than the £2000+ Eisenmann charge!Mine sounds nice if you give it the beans (especially if going under a bridge/tunnel) but it's otherwise far too muted.
