Hello,

I have a 2002 Tuscan S. I'm thinking of changing to a T350C towards the end of this year.

Have any T340C/T owners previously owned a Tuscan? If so how does it compare?

Thanks

We did.

The handling is far better than the Tuscan, but it is slower on the straight, although better point to point if that makes sense.

You could always specify the performance upgrade package - extra 40 bhp I believe plus other upgrades including a lighter body - £4000.

Ah but 1 BPH = 1.6 BHP.

Stick sports Exhausts on, for £350 and get an extra 15-18bhp, 'cheap as chips' upgrade. Use the rest of the money to go to 'LeMans' for a holiday.

I cut in my Tuscan RR (Oct 00) for a 350 in March this year. It's my third TVR and each time they get better from the handling point of view. I was quite happy with the skittish handling in the Tuscan - loads of fun getting it pear shaped in corners - but the 350 is in a different league all together. As someone pointed out, possibly not the out and out grunt of the Tugger, but you'd be hard pushed to notice in real life scenarios.

The main downside is the lack of boot. You can still get lots in the 350, but it tends to end up on your lap if you brake too hard, although the newer ones have restraining lips on the baggage area.

Another bummer is that it's a real pig to find anywhere to stash a decent stereo. I've a cupboard full of amps and speakers from my Tugger if anyone's interested ...

My Tugger was also at the end of it's extended warranty following the "fish finger" engine rebuild so that had a bearing too although the new owner has taken it to 20000 miles with no problems. It blew at 12000.

All in all I'd say go for it, I'm glad I did.

Just to add a bit more to this ... chatting to a friend who's driven both my Tugger and the 350, he rates the 350 as far better for the way it puts the power down on the road. I agree. The 350 shreds the tyres far quicker which is probably an indication of better traction.

Just my $0.02 ...

Hello fellas,

Thanks for the reply.

I really like the "Crystal Topaz" colour, this is the colour I might go for in a T350C. This is a light blue metallic.

Is it true this costs £900 above base spec as opposed to about £300 for metallic colours? I thought the Crystal Topaz is a metallic colour, in what way is it different? It's certainly nothing like the chameleon/cascade exotic colours.

Also, for people who have moved from Tuscan to T350, how did the insurance costs compare?

Was paying £900 per year for my Tuscan, when it came to renewal they wanted £1800! This was Sunninghill, underwritten by Royal Sun Alliance I believe. I found an insurer (A Mannings) who could do £1200 per year.

So can I expect less insurance premiums with the T350?

Thanks,
Lee

With regard to the handling, they do share the same chaasis/wheelbase..

Isn't the handling of a brand new tuscan now comparable to a t350.

I would have thought tvr would use all the same setting that everyone raves about on the t350c on the new tuscans (standard tuscan (not s) vs t350)

For example I've driven a few examples of tuscan from 2000 -2001 - 2002-2003 and there was definite improvement in the handling stakes.
