www.metronomy.com/

Are giving away free pc's all you have to do is agree to watch 3 mins advertising per hour the PC is on.

I have ordered one, the advertising will be anoying but an extra PC never goes a miss......

Yeah they will be but the PC is only for the misses (first time PC user) and my kids (age 3,5) who will only spill Orange squash on it anyway and play silly games......The misses has been naging me about getting her a PC for ages so this gets me off the hook without getting my wallet out.....result
I have told her and she is happy, so I am happy.

Interesting - anyone know if the advertisements are software served, or if it's hardware? - Im just wondering (apart from the 30 hours/month commitment) what's just to stop you sticking a second boot disk on and running off a normal OS, and just leave it running for the required 30 hours/month when you're asleep etc.

It needs to have internet access and checks that you are not fiddling with it.

I wonder if you have to give positive confirmation that you've watched each advert? Otherwise, just leave the thing on in the corner...

Aside: the PCs they're punting out are more powerful than any computer I own. Or need, for that matter.

Seems like a good idea.

Getting a virtual desktop thats twice as wide as it should be and positioning the adverts on the portion you cant see should sort it...

I've just signed up for one.

The terms and conditions give a bit more detail. There's an ad 'break' every 20 minutes, which can be delayed by 5 mins if you're doing something interesting. PC needs to be used for an hour a day.
