Would be great if you chaps could have a scan of this route map, I've knocked it together to take in some reccomendations from Pistonheads North Wales threads driving

http://www.smalllinks.com/DBQ

The route is based purely on getting from manchester to Porthmadog on the best road in north wales.

Can anyone suggest any improvements? other roads to check out?

Thanks in advance.

Rick.

Good timing !

I'm doing this in the morning - getting up and setting off at 6am in the Griff for a blast around Bala.

Probably last decent chance of a nice weather, early morning blatt.

good call!

im sooooo tempted to head out myself tomorrow morning! thinking exactly the same as you r.e. the weather! FYI there is an event on in bala this weekend so it will be getting busy quite quickly, so an early start is a must id say.

no real additions to make to your route OP. The route from ffestiniog to betws is great.

We've done got to the triangle from Denbigh using the B4501 which is quite good but you wouldn't want to do it in a big car as it's narrow in places.

The B5105 out of Ruthin is very bumpy of late and heavily cambered in places (i.e. not fun if you can't stay in the centre of the road).

I'd come down the A525 and A542 (Horsehoe Pass) to Llangollen instead and then back onto the A5 to Cerrigydrudion.

Id say thats pretty much spot on. The corner near Capel Celyn (point I) is great fun with it being slightly banked and going on for so long biggrin

indeed, the A525 is a great route. A5104 onto the A5 is also good. If you are in the vicinity though, a trip down the nant y garth pass is a must - you can just do it then turn your car round at the college at the end of it and then re-join your original route.

Thanks for the suggestion five. Just drove the horse shoe pass for the first time today in the MX5-bit busy in places but amazing fun with a bit of space! Triangle was superb-as ever, learning it a little now.

Going back to do the route as planned next weekend in the M5, Will make for an interesting comparrison.

I used to do these routes regularly in my e34 M5 and they were probably as much fun in that as they are in the Z4MC.

Admittedly they each provide a 'different' type of fun as the M5 handles the bumps better and the Z handles the corners and overtaking better.

I did find the M5 a lot easier to drive slowly when you didn't want to 'make progress' though.

When heading back, follow the B4391 & B4396 from Bala out to Llynclys on the main A483.

Great taste in cars five, I adore your Z4 coupe.

Bangle hit the spot with that one.

Indeed !

Good to meet you. Can't believe how we ended up meeting. Went all over the place after that blast over the narrowest, bumpiest road in Wales !

A top morning/afternoon. I need to get shares with Shell after the amount of fuel I used.

Absolutely fabulous driving roads. Here's a snap from the Triangle.

was a very random encounter (saying that, you and i were about the only people out at that time of the morning!)

i think i'll give that moorland road a miss next time - too many sheep and, erm, bumps for my liking!!

had a good run back home too, most traffic heading the other way to me. if you ever fancy a run out, give me a yell
