Hi can anybody tell me which water pump I need to replace the original leyland HRC1561? thats currently fitted in my 350i. There seem to be several different pumps available to fit rover v8 engines. Mine has a slight seep on the front end and is bound to give up soon.
Will fit hoses etc too if anyone can match them up.
Also need to replace pulley belt ERC 5836 original Rover part as far as i know.
Car has powered steering

Cheers Jonny,
Job is all done now. Used the following parts which were all available from Rimmer Bros for £137 delivered. There are several pumps available for the V8 and some suppliers said that the right one was obsolete.
Rimmers had it in stock though and provided an excellent service

water pump GWP2149 came with gasket
thermostat 82 degrees C GTS104
thermostat housing gasket GTG125
Fan Belt GCB11125 which is 1125 x 10mm
Heater/ water pump return hose ERC2279

Has anyone tried a Quinton Hazell QCP 2095 instead of the 2149?

Reason I ask is that the 2149's are about £100 now but I found a QCP 2095 for about £60, and I suspect they are cheaper with trade discount ;^)

Not that I'm tight or anything, but why spend out dosh on the thread for a viscous fan, when we don't even have the fan? The plumbing looks the same on both pumps.

Perhaps HonestJohn has an opinion? They are both used on the SDi.

Have a word with RPI, they supplied my last pump and were knowledgeable.

QCP 2095 works fine on mine, has done for about 7 years, there used to be a lot of variations mainly due to external shaft dimensions and the ever changing fan set up`s,you might want to saw the end off as it does look a bit odd but it does no harm if left. smile

Thanks Chris, yes I was thinking the same thing, the shaft might get in the way if you have to move the engine forwards as it might foul that GRP crossmember. Five minutes with a hacksaw to save 40 quid sounds like a result!

As for RPI yes I could ring them but then might feel obliged to order from them, and their markup on the QH pump is quite substantial, I can do much better from my mate who can get it at trade price. Even other sites on tinternet have it much cheaper.

I think QH have stopped making the 2149 and the 2095 is now the current option,Rimmers are probably using the old stock that they bought from India, but the QH wholesale price is rising (on the 2095) to meet it so be prepared.smile
