Salisbury plain?

Slighlty more east (no Salisbury plain as such) is the A345 between Pewsey and Marlborough.
A346 Swindon - Burbage, then A338 - down to Collingbourne Ducis, picking up the A346 again until the A342 Devizes - Andover road. It's also a good one & well worth the detour.Avoid the rest of the A338 & A345 south of Pewsey - not many overtaking opportunities unless you have a decent bike. Also - A346 to Marlborough then A4 towards Calne, turning off on the A361 to Devizes. Beware of talivans on both roads though. Come to think of it, I haven't found a bad bit of the A361 anywhere yet!
A350 is good too, especially south of Warminster
And make sure you bloody slow down when you come past my house The open bits are fair game but take it easy in the villages. To be honest the trucks are the worst offenders, constant 50mph no matter what the speed limit. Mind you I did see one tt overtake in a 40 right outside my house, doing about 60 odd.

Fear not, I grew up in an area that makes Salisbury plain look like a metropolis, so I'm reasonably aware of the need to tailor your speed to the conditions on country roads. chris7676 said:
Most of the A-roads mentioned are good if you want speed, the two I suggested are good (if not great) if you like bends and other interesting features in my opinion.
Definitely more of a bend man than a V-Max man! It also crossed my mind that Zig Zag Hill can't be far away. Eta, something like this maybe: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&a...
