... this much?

article said:
A driver has been fined almost £1,000 after blindly following his sat nav down a Yorkshire dirt track which left his car teetering on the edge of a 100ft drop. Robert Jones, 43, was found guilty of driving without due care and attention, after the Tom Tom gadget led him down a cliffside on a bridal path. The sat nav maintained it was leading him down a road, and he only realised the error when his BMW hit a fence on the brink of a high cliff...
[The prosecution] said "The path was such it was not designed for use of motor vehicles yet Mr Jones slavishly continued to follow the sat nav system to the point where his eyes and his brain must have been telling him otherwise to such a degree he was not exercising proper control of the vehicle".

I've followed satnav through a park, to a footbridge, but didn;t attempt to mount said footbridge.

In my defence it was dark. But I confess, I am completely hopeless at finding my way anywhere without a map or satnav

I normally agree with it but the last couple of times we've used it has taken me some very strange routes... not sure why though as it's set on fastest route not shortest route.

Very strange

Sometimes a NSL road can a very long way around.

Abvout 3 years ago I used my TT Go 300 on 'Shortest Route' while out looking for a small industrial Unit near Ruthin, North Wales. I ended up driving around the outside of a field through some very deep ruts at one hell of a lean angle.

Fortunately I was in a Hilux Surf at the time - my young 5 year old lad found it very entertaining & for a long time after, asked about returning to do it again.

It may have been an NSL road but it wasn't much wider than the MX5

I found that half the problem can be out of date maps and people not updating the software on the units, because after all a device is only as good as the software on it.

Mine is totally up to date ( done the last Mapshare an hour ago.....still don't trust it...on another car Forum I use, TomTom is not held in high regard at all, just a "Brand" that is brits have been coerced into thinking that it is the "One to Have"... like Playstation etc.
