and came up with this...

It's a bit of a partscaster - a 2006 sunburst body, Fender American Vintage '57 re issue pickups, roadworn pickguard, Fender American Vintage '57 re issue bridge and a '50's neck, from Warmoth. Period decal applied by the previous owner of the neck I should add...

All bolted, screwed and soldered together with love and care by yours truly. I'm rather pleased with it to be honest - plays great and the vintage pick ups really do sound nice...

Cheers

That looks fantastic. Did you just happen to have the parts lying around or did you collect them all for this project?

Cheers - it started with a bridge and bone nut I had lying around and then got a touch out of control and I collected the rest as and when it came up. I was hoping for an American Vintage neck but no luck there - not at a sensible price anyhow!

I fancied having a go at building a Strat myself a little while ago so it's nice to see they can come out so nicely. I didn't bother in the end because I managed to get a classic player strat for a very good price second hand. It's very similar to yours actually, with the only obvious difference being that mine has a rosewood neck. I'll have to take a few pictures and put them on the "show us your guitars" thread.

I built this Tele in pretty much the same way. Waited ages for the body and neck to come up on eBay (no way was I paying the full price, £150 for a body and £175 for a neck). Pickups are from a Jap '62 reissue Tele Custom.

Looks great - I was originally thinking Daphne Blue for the body but same as you, couldn't get one at a decent price. Still, sunburst is good!

Funny you should say that, there's a Sonic Blue one on eBay at the mo.

It's not cheap though.
