Hi folks

I'm not a trained programmer but I've been building a database at work (Access front end with oracle tables) which has been really useful in managing our suppliers. Somebody has requested that it be given functionality to graphically display the performance trends of the suppliers over time, which I agree would be really useful. Trouble is the built in graph tool in Access 2002 appears to be extremely limited and does not appear to handle the number of fields/series I want to include.

So this is a long shot but if anyone has experience of getting "complex" graphs working in Access I would appreciate some pointers. If I need to buy some additional software it shouldn't be a problem, but at the moment I just don't know which way to go.

If anybody has some suggestions I'd be really grateful.

If Access supports the placing of them Google for Charting Active-X

Best one is ChartFX but there is a cost associated with it. There will be a number of free ones.

The MS Charting control is alright once you get the hang of it though...

Thanks for the tips, I wondered about Active-X.

MS charting work great in excell etc, but the version in Access seems to be a very restricted version of it. It will only let you use 4 or 5 data series, with very little 'post creation editing' if you see what I mean.

Obviously it might just be me, that I'm not using it right! wouldn't be the first time

Thanks Again

You could doubtless create an Access Macro/Module, and a corresponding Macro in Excel, to export the relevant data in a temportary table and Chart it in Excel.. just a thought..

Cheers
Matt.

You could also try searching www.dejanews.com

I have yet to fail to find an answer for something I was after on there.

Word of warning though: If you post a question - try and change your email address. Spammers trawl the site and pick up email addresses and spam you - I found out the hard way!

Thanks all

Looks like there's some really useful stuff here. A quick search on the that weblink reveals the code to get the export to excell thingy working. This was in response to somebody who had asked virtually an identical question to mine.

Thanks again all - looks like I've got some directions to head in now
