Mercedes clk 230 kompressor- Camshaft adjuster problem??

hey guys i'v got a problem on my clk 230.. wen i rev the car as it passes 1500 revs i get a fairly load rattling sound cuming from the engine and the same noise when is drops back pass 1500 revs.

i'v been told its a camshatf adjuster or variable timing gear that needs to b replaced.. just wanted to know wat the diference is between the 2 and if any1 has experienced this problem and is aware exactly wat is and wat im looking at to repair this £??

also if any1 is aware of any merc breakers were i can find a cheap part and if any knows of a good well experienced merc specialist anywer local to me in ilford (essex) where i can get the job done for a reasonable price??

any sugestions are much appreciated plz guys cos i aint got a clue about this fault???
