Hi Guys,

Does anyone here know where you can buy a iPhone Car kit as good as the Tomtom one?

I really don't want to spend another £99 on their kit. when I paid £59 for the app.

Thanks,

Colin

I'm pretty sure the bracket will become available soon from tomtom themselves as a stand alone item without the app. As many people (including me) will be in the same boat as you and have already forked out the money for the app without the bracket.

I'd say watch this space, as there are bound to be people selling them any day now

Hi,

Thanks for that, It was released on the appstore as a pre order over the weekend at £99 but i can't seem to find it again..

It looks really good too. I saw some info on the FCC site before tomtom took it off. Apparently it now works with the 2G ones as it has a built in GPS Sirf III

Still can't see the point of it as it exits the nav when you are on a call.

...and then resumes routing when the call ends.

...at which point you have sailed passed your junction because you were on the phone for half and hour and will be pointing 30 miles in the wrong direction!

This is precisely the reason I didn't bother with the TomTom app. I just bought a TomTom Go 930 and use bluetooth. It works a treat and with the iPhone connected to my AUX input, it just pauses the music while the call is active, and then resumes it when the call ends!

I think I will go with this solution. The iphone is too slow and they are taking the pee with the pricing.

I'm hoping to just buy the cradle to enhance the GPS signal. I bought the CoPilot app, which for the money is a decent piece of software.

I notice that this morning, they have amended the website to state app not included. I wont be buying one of those then!
Just have to wait for a cheaper copy to be made.

Normal cradle with http://www.blueunplugged.com/p.aspx?p=121063&g...

Not sure if the iffy bluetooth on the iPhone would detect it though. I have a receiver kicking around somewhere, will try it out later.

Extortionate!!! An utter rip-off and I'm very glad I got a dedicated unit with a bigger screen, handsfree with navigation, FM transmission (albeit a bit crap), and TMC traffic for the same as the European app and cradle! (€240)

I actually paid €280, but got a €40 fuel voucher included... thumbup
