Swiss VINs

Is there any way to find out the VIN of a car registered in Switzerland with just the license plate? Is there a website to do it with?

My first post on PistonHeads - yippy!

I don't think it is possible because the Licence Plate is registered to a person and not a specific vehicle. This allows users to swap plates between cars. However there are plenty of websites that give out lots of personally information (like where people live) just based on the licence plate which makes Data Protection a bit of a joke here.
