I know insurance is a constant thread, so here's my experience today: three quotes of £2,000 plus (my central London postcode plus a claim for four stolen wheels a few years back don't help), including one from my current insurer Privilege, and then ClassicLine offer me a sub-£900 quote. Seems they treat offstreet parking better than their competitors. So big hug to Chantelle at Classicline.

Is that a limited mileage policy?

hhhhmm Thats good as there was talk on here the other day about Classicline not using Royal Sun Alliance anymore. And hence the prices where going up.
I Have used Classic line for a fare few years now and the have always matched or beaten any other quotes I have had so have always sticked with them.
They were also very helpful last year when i had a little claim

I'm on the insurance ringaround too.

Car is a 98 Chimaera 4.0, 6 years no claims, protected NCD, me (31) and wife (>30 ), car garaged overnight in Sheffield.

Privilege wanted £860 for renewal as opposed to £720 last year (unlimited mileage)

Sunninghill-
Class 1 Business use, 6000 limit = £733
Commuting & pleasure, 6000 limit - £671
Commuting & pleasure, 3000 limit - £561

Footman James-
Commuting & pleasure, 3000 limit - £550 (not protected NCD though, but includes breakdown cover)

Classicline-
Commuting & pleasure, 3000 limit - £454

And now:

Osborne & sons
Commuting & pleasure, 4000 limit - £1315

Now you've just got to buy the car, change the login name, and you're away

I'm with Sunninghill. I realised that my 6000 limited mileage wouldnt be anywhere near enough. I spoke to them and upped it to 10000 miles for only an extra £65!

Apparently this is often a cheaper way to do it. Spoke to a friend of mine whos insured with a different firm. He had an unlimited mileage quote which was quite high so went with a limited mileage policy and just kept upping the limit. Worked out a lot cheaper in the end. All it takes is a quick phone call.

Incidently, Sunninghill said today that they dont do unlimited cover any more as its far too expensive.
