Updating a Becker satnav unit?

I have a Becker 7827 and can't for the life of me figure out how to update the maps (they are hopelessly out of date). Understand it's based on Navteq maps - are the Navteq update files common across all manufacturers?

You could always try somewhere like limewire to see if they had the files for free, although you do run the risk of getting viruses that way.

bought the unit for about £90, becker want me to pay about £65 to get an update, quick look on google for the package gave me lots of torrent hits, found a few free sites and might look into it more on the downloads pc
