Thinking of buying a race suit online, but I am unsure about which measurement is more important. I am quite slim, so waist-wise I'd be in the lower size however, I am 5ft11', which would put me a couple of sizes above. I guess it is more important to buy a suit that fits my height even if it's loosely-fitted at the waist, right?

For an extra £50, have one that fits http://www.advanced-wear.co.uk/m2m.html

make sure you try one on or if you are going to get made to measure then Stand 21 has to be on your list

I'm tall and fairly slim. When I got my orange babygrow for marshalling I tried a few but they were either far to baggy to get the right length, or cutting me in half to get the right waist. Ended up having one made instead. The last thing you want to buy is a suit that digs into your crotch just so that you don't look like Jacques Villeneuve. Try a couple for size if you can but the best way is probably to have one made to measure.

You might also want to try FreeM, cheaper than Stand 21 (who are very expensive), more breathable and just as good quality from my experience

5 thumbs up for made-to-measure.....yes they cost slightly more, but you'll never be uncomfortable, or have trouble getting in or out. One of the better investments I've made in the past few years, beside a CF helmet instead of a GRP one clap

Can't recall tbh, and have just had a quick scan through my files and can't find the invoice (was bought 7yrs ago). Couple of hundred quid sounds about right...

Andy, their 'base' suit now costs around £650, which when you add the custom option on top, there's not a lot of change from £1000! That's inflation for you! hehe

Or a mind conditioned to ignoring, possibly even deliberately blanking, the true cost of fripperies smile

I'm fairly sure my suit cost much less than my helmet, and that was sub 600 quid.

Quality gear though - the helmets are definitely worth a try for those with any difficulty with helmet size/shape (being John Merrick's bigger headed brother, I fit right into that category. Head like a massive Nik Nak).
