Ok I am baffled, nothing in the handbook....how do I replace the battery in the keyfob?

Its a 2002 Cupra with the non folding type key.

I have this horrible suspicion its a dealer only job and will cost me £30 for a 50p battery

Assuming it's the same as my 2003 Toledo, look where the metal "blade" goes into the plastic. There is a small hole on 1 side of the key (don't have it to hand so can't remember if it's the button side). Insert small screwdriver & twist & the fob will seperate from the blade.

It's then 3 clips to seperate the fob & repalce the battery. You've got (I think) 10 seconds to replace the battery before it forgets what it's been programed to.

Good luck ! smile

That sounds similar thanks. 10 seconds for an oaf with fat fingers!
