Well I have been through all the fuses and think it may be a relay. But don't really know where to start.

The dash has lost it's lighting apart from a ring around the speedo.

Does any one know if there is a built in fuse, or control relay? Or if this is a known fault?

My gran doesn't really want to go spending a small fortune on it.

All ideas gratefully received.

The cluster on my 2001 S320 packed in a couple of months back. needles froze, no lighting at all. i was on the motorway at the time.

Contacted these guys:

www.revtronic.com

Took out the cluster using a couple of pins that are commonly used for taking out car stereos with (there are two small slots either side on the base of the cluster that the pins go into).

Packed the cluster up in a box and sent it off to them. 4 days later it arrived and i re-connected the cluster and changed a 5amp fuse for the cluster(orange in colour, in the right hand side fuse box in the engine bay as you look at it from the front) .

Worked perfectly fine and the cluster is back to normal.

Was charged £190.

try and change the fuse first, which i also did. If it doesnt help, the cluster will need to be repaired. a brand new replacement from MB is £700 give or take i think.
