I have now had two superb consecutive experiences at Mercedes Benz, Collindale. My last Mercedes was about 4-5 years ago and the dealer experience was terrible at that time. Arrogant, overcharging and poor quality work.

What a turn around- both occasions the whole experience on my c350 was painless, efficient and superb vfm. It seems to me that merc dealers have spent a lot of time and effort in sorting out their aftersales service and deserve recognition for this.
Has anyone else noted this improvement from merc dealers?
Also my new C class is far superior to my previous model c class in terms of build quality so that seems a positive move as well.smile

yes

When my car was last in for a service at MB Glasgow it was an unsually good experience, came out and checked for damage before checking the car in, noticed a couple of stone chips and offered to touch them up FOC, offered to replace plastic valve caps with genuine MB alloy caps FOC, offered me a lift to work when I declined a courtesy car, car was returned sparkling (not just a quick wash) and hoovered inside, and they took £50 off when I mentioned I received poor service last time I was there.

also had great service at Wandsworth on the 3 occasions I've been there over the past 12 months with my S class. Makes me want to keep with Mercedes in the future. Left the brand some time ago after having an SL. They have finally gone back to their core values. High quality superbly engineered cars and customer service. Hardly rocket science! Chrysler never quite understood the concept.

Chrysler weren't actually in charge of Mercedes where they ?- afaik it was more of a merger.

as I understand it, a 50/50 merger where Chrysler seem to systematically destroy the quality and integrity of the brand. Mercedes' unique selling point was always over engineered solid cars. Something Chrysler never understood. When Mercedes ended the merger, bought back its shares, it returned to its core values again.

If it was 50/50 then why did Merc allow Chrysler carte blanche to act so recklessly?

Nothing to do with any merger.

It's been going through the processes for a while and it's all to do with
Mercedes Benz aiming to be Number 1 in customer satisfaction by 2010 in the JD Power survey. The reason dealers are bending over backwards for the customers, customer satisfaction is top of the priority list.

That is interesting! A tall challenge against likes of Lexus but great aspiration to have and who is to say they can't do it. Great for the customer in any case. Now if only BMW had a similar aspiration.

I have no complaints about my local Mercedes dealer (Hertford), excellent service every time.

This seems to be reflected in the JD-Power surveys as Mercedes are currently the best non-Japanese brand for customer satisfaction.

I read quite recently that the aftersales departments are now paid based upon customer feedback, so it is in there interests to provide good service.

With 4 months to go until my warranty runs out I booked my SL500 into Wakefield Mercedes for a couple of annoying rattles sorting out. When I picked it up today in pristine condition inside & out not only were the rattles gone but they had replaced the front discs & pads!
What can you say - astonishing service, very very pleased.

Interesting topic - I've recently had a horrendous experience with a central london main dealer. Took my SL55 in to have a belt squeak fixed and found that, depressingly, it was still there after two visits and a significant amount of money. When I initially complained I was verbally abused by a customer services manager and so had to raise this as a formal complaint with MB central offices in Maastricht. Still under investigation for final resolution but no real effort made by the garage to keep me as a customer.

Well regarded indy garage sorted squeak out no problem in an hour and a half.

Good to hear that other customers are having much more positive experiences, but from my perspective its the worst I've had of my motoring career!

My local dealership has almost put right the situation I found my self in with them. Its been a real shame as I decided I was goin to stick with Mercedes and run a New ml320 cdi as my daily driver, The E55 estate as the family going out car and a SL65 or SL55 for a week end toy. Looks like Audi will be getting my next buisness with a Q5 or Toreg, RS6 and a R8.

For me running a Mercedes is now just to much trouble, I feel I can no longer trust them to do the normal tasks you would trust a back street garage to do. How hard is it for them to change the battery in the key ? Its a normal service item, replace battery its simple, 2 days after a service battery has gone as has not been replaced. Dose not give me much hope that they do actualy change the brake fluid or remove the wheels to check the brakes.......or replace all 16 plugs...

We have bought three new Mercedes in the last five years, two from Whitefield Mercedes, and one from Stratstone, (Blackburn).

The cars were flawless and the sales experience and follow through perfect, no complaints whatsoever....Very professional with a friendly touch....
