I've always liked watches... but not got that seriously into them. I've a Seiko Kinetic Auto Relay and a Raymond Weil Tango. But after a couple of days finding this sub-forum I ended up gazing at Omegas in the local jewellers! Oh dear. One day I'll have a Seamaster Professional but until then I am almost joining the standard issue Monster club!
Spotted this Japanese Seiko which some nick name the mini monster (although why I dont know as its only .5mm smaller and its NOT a Monster). Its a '5' variant and while I almost fell for the OM, this Japanese made one pipped it for me. Arrives Saturday....

That's neat - around the same size as a Monster but comes with a display back? Where did you get that from? Was it Monster money? (I'm quite tempted - though I seem to have gone certifiably insane over the past few months on a watch-buying frenzy, from affordable to not-affordable and everywhere in between...)
Got it from justseiko on the bay for Monster money: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...
1 left.... so tonight's your night!
Service wise - they emailed me this afternoon within 20 mins of asking a question and I have asked for delivery on Saturday which they are accommodating. Very prompt and friendly service.
I did like the monsters - but this one just appeals to me. Its got one of those titanium coated cases mind.. so you need to be a desk diver as that'll not wear as well as s/s. Still... love the look. Will post up some real pics all being well on Saturday.

May just have to have a look...
Anyway it looks like that's the watch to have if you're HARD CORE since all the 'normal' divers watches I've seen only colour the first 15 minutes, and with that Seiko the red goes all the way round to 20. So it's for people who can hold their breath longer?

Looks like these ones http://www.creationwatches.com/products/search/res... though I'm guessing that they are not made in Japan as they are SNZ not SNJ (does that really make a difference?)
Thats them alright. Mines refered to as "Seiko 5 Sports Automatic 100m Men’s NEO Monster Divers Watch ".
The eBay seller has a few variants listed:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Seiko-5-Auto-Scuba-Diver-Wat...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Seiko-5-Sports-Auto-Scuba-Di...
As for the J/K difference. AFAIK J model watches are fully manufactured & assembled in Japan - hence the "Made in Japan" in very small writing at the 7 o'clock position. The K's are assembled in Singapore/Malaysia - but the mechanisms are all made in Japan so its just assembled elsewhere. As to whether that makes a difference... who knows. Dont hear too many people complaining about the quality of their Monsters.

My SNK009 has "Malaysia Movement" on the back...As for these. I hate you. I can't believe I have to buy ANOTHER watch, after getting 5 in the last week!
As the title says.... "There should be a warning on this forum!"
I consider myself to have got off lightly. After browsing on here, I got so smitten by the Omega Seamaster pro that I almost talked myself into buying one earlier this week. The local agent is doing 0% over 3 years in November. Must resist... must resist...
(frig... @ £1860, thats more than I paid for my trusty Audi Coupe V6!)
As for the mechanisms.. according to the creationwatches description - its a Japanese movement in this particular K version. I guess with a range as big as Seiko's, they put all sorts together.

I'd have tried to buy something off the TZ forum - but I obviously need someone to show me the secret handshake. Am I right to say its invite only? Shame that.. (or maybe my saving grace).
You have to ask to get access to TZ - but then you need to participate continually to keep the access. I have had an account twice now but since I mainly lurk - not yet found anything I wanted to buy in time to do anything - I have had the account cancelled twice. Richard

The discovery of TZ-UK and TWF was my downfall. Got a bit bored of new purchases; only bought one in the last month. I think.
Have to admit, I am getting bored of having to drive down to the delivery office and queue up to pick up the parcels...ShadownINja said:
