Bilbao to Barcelona 2010 Grand Prix

I was wondering if anyone knew the best routes from the Bilbao ferry port to Barcelona, dont mind spending a day or so doing this, but will have the usual limitations of old and new exotic machinary, so pot holes, narrow roads and unsecure parking not an option! Its also for a stag do so looking to stop somewhere lively on the way, any help welcomed!
