After the last little Tesco escapade with diesel fuel, I have avoided using theirs. (fortunately I was not one of the motorists caught) When possible, I tend to use Shell (locally it is a bit cheaper - also my Rover 45 seems to run better on it, a viewpoint shared by my fellow-MG-Rover forum members) or Sainsbury's.

Oh No! I filled up with Super Unleaded at Tescos in Exeter, and I feel really nauseous. Maybe I should not have drunk it but it was cheaper than their lager.

They were accused of same issue at one of their stores in N E Lincolnshire some years ago. Wife's Mazda had persistent water in fuel problem which our mechanic said was typical of other customers who also filled up there.

After the Tesco fuel debacle last year, I never use their fuel, not even in my daily smoker. My local Shell garage is always cheaper for the 95/Derv stuff anyway and the V-Power is also a few pence cheaper than BP Ultimate.

You should avoid all supermarket fuels anyway. They are in no way the same as what you get from Shell, BP and Esso.

Tesco Super 99 is pretty good, but I doubt that comes from the same place as the other stuff.

Filled Mrs car with Tesco UL 95 in Dover after leaving docks..... next day.... engine light on..limp mode.. ste fuel again .....coil pack knackered this time....last time it was the Lambda........ I won't even buy Tractor Juice from them for my 4wd tdi campervan..... that runs fine on Veg oil...but I won't buy diesel from Tesco..... it is Shell locally or Esso if I can get it...

Not knowing a thing about how petrol stations are meant to service and look after their tanks, but how the heck do Tesco's keeps getting this issues when smaller garages aren't?

I can understand how bad fuel might screw up a Lambda sensor, but not a coil pack.....

In the interst of balanced reporting, I always fill up with Tescos, for the past seven years, RON 99 in two cars and 95 in the other two; and never had a problem.

All petrol sold on forecourts comes from a selection of UK refineries around the country. Or put another way- same fuel from same refinery goes to different filling stations.
Additives put in at point of sale make the difference basically. Two of the largest refineries in the UK are near me & I have friends who know these sorts of things biggrin:
