Hi, im after pictures of the different types of boot spoilers fitted to the wedges, to see if one would be any use for racing.

I think the seac one is out but others might be possible

Ahem -

I think you will find they all produce som form of downforce. Just get a piece of card (or even paper)hold it at angle and then sweep your arm around or run like hell. See what I mean?

The under wing on 390 SE's probably produces a reasonable amount of downforce - notice the new Sagaris has something similar! The tea tray should also produce a fair bit of downforce - just look at it. The secret here is how clean is the air that reaches the wing and how much drag does the wing produce. I would suggest that these wings are fairly untidy. To really find out if they help I suppose would require taking them off a car that has them and then noting the difference at various speeds.

Alternatively - hire a wind tunnel.

Graham,
The only ones that really do anything are the 390 SE lower wing and the SEAC boot wing. The latter really does work.
2 official spoilers fitted to boot were 450SE & SEAC. There was an aftermarket jobbie for the Wedge which fitted to the outer edge of the boot.
Andy (ex-KRP) will have my SEAC wing mould to make a Carbon one for my racer/rally car so could do one for you. I also have SEAC arch moulds (I have a tendancy to park in things when competing!!)and hopefully the rear roof section (soon).
If racing fit the SEAC wing - it works.

MMM not sure i'd get away with the seac spoiler, but the lower spoiler could be persuaded to fit and modified.

we must sort out that pint and wedge talk...

and match up all our wedge bits....

Their knocking up a boot lid mould at the mo as well

So are you going to come and play in class q with the monsta wedge, go on you know you want to.....

Made by Zender, was fitted to quite a few 350s (believed at the factory) - as per:

mmm that might work with a little mod that zender spoiler would probably work like a gurney flap...

so all i need now is zender spoiler and a 290 under spoiler to take a mould off

>>:austinprincesscalipers: <<

I think they must be in the back of the jago Samuri in me grans garage in scotland...

No Class A of the lowley horse power and humble 2.8i

These bodywork mods should be legal as they were fitted to a production wedge.

Cheltenham
Gloucestershire
GL51 8NR
Tel: 01242 222826

Several times !!!!!!

if your stuck i might be able to get them to do supply only, although RT was sourcing some Polycarb screens

The SE Spoiler is by far the nicest. The Zender looks a bit naff IMO.

Graham check the regs first as I almost got disqualified with an illegal boot spoiler because I could not prove that they were a factory fit on my car. Most of them were not factory fitted which seems to be the golden rule.

As for the 390SE undertray spoiler.... does bugger all except add 25kg of weight. Main problem is that the rest of the body and exhasut all interfere with the air flow. Been there... got rid of it years ago.

As for boot spoiler. I've been running a small ally gurney flap which actually gives the best downforce for minimum weight short of running a proper wing which I can't do due to regs. Things like the SEAC wing will work but they also increase the weight and drag. Carrying the mandatory gold medallion also kills the weight.

If the airflow was across the complete span of the 400/450SE lower spoiler then possibly it would be more effective (the aerofoil is the correct profile for increased downforce)....but it only gets airflow across the tips therefore it is mainly cosmetic in its application....Is the 390SE different? i know the mounts are different, therefore i suspect the airflow is across the complete span (?)
