Thanks for sharing.
The tubes above the rear axle, do you mount these exactly the same as with the normal rollbar, or do you need to weld it to the chassis?

You're welcome.
It bolts on exctly the same as a rollbar, and then you have the two bolts which pass through a boss just below the rear of the windscreen scuttle.
I rang Bruce at Arch before I bought it, to make sure my chassis had the forward boss's, (My chassis was in U.K. at the time, and I live in Spain).
As I understand it, most chassis have the boss's put in already, but to be sure, you'd have to drill the rivets out along the top of the sill, and ease the skin away to see if it's there.
As an aside, the cage dropped straight on. No tugging or pulling to make it fit. Perfect!smile

There must be something wrong with it

Cheers Mick, much appreciated.

So I'm confused now, is your SV a pre-metric Arch build? I thought all the SV chassis were metrics now built by Steel Fabrications Ltd (was Caged). If someone could pour on some elucidation it would be much appreciated.

It's an Arch chassis, not one of new new weld spattered made by Robert things. smile
So I suppose Caged have made a few before. tongue out

Nicodema, I put my name on one of the Arch chassis, before they switched over to the Steel Fab ones. I've had it sitting in storage since 2007. (I've been busy with other projects)
Steel Fabs, I believe, are owned by CC. They certainly have the same address. (Kennet road, Dartford).
As I understand it, Arch still make the race car chassis, and the CSR chassis.
I think the first Metric chassis were produced by Caged, but as a seperate part of the business, and were bought out by someone else. (Corvin enterprises comes to mind, but I've forgotten all the details now, and I stand to be corrected)
I'm sure CC would still supply an Arch chassis, at a price. rolleyes

Academy cars are metric now - have been for a while.

If it's a 'Caged cage' it must be broken. Assembly requires a hammer hehe

Seriously though, the only time I've heard of someone getting a Caged cage off an Arch chassis without hitting it with something was after they'd rolled it at Silverstone hehe

All the metric race cars are from steelfab, R300, RS & Academy. They are noticebly stiffer than the Arch chassis aswell.

Arch can repair the metric chassis if required.

Earlier in the year, I had a SLR caged cage made and it was fitted to my 98 Roadsport. Everything lined up, didn't need to stress the cage at all, all fitted fine. Caged did a great job smile

To be fair, if you're welding the front bosses into the chassis with the cage there, and using the latest style side fixings (2006 on), there should be no need for violence. Otherwise, it's very rare to have a cage fit straight on.

I've gone down this route in the past. Give the car to Caged, then collect a week or so later, with all necesary bosses fitted and the cage fitted to the car with no visible damage! thumbup

All done and dusted. Phoned Rob on friday, spoke to Phil today to arrange delivery of a custom powder coated roll cage addition.

Now just need to find someone who can do a nice fillet MIG weld whilst not going through the cage!
