Quoted a few but never sold one. At plenty over a grand you can buy a Hudl in Tesco at £130 (which is infinitely better suited as a video player for kids in the back), an annual cinema pass and still have change for a big TV for your living room.

I've never felt the need to watch telly whilst sitting in the front wink

Bugger me, 825 notes. No, not worth it for that.

What does everyone use to hold their phones in their S4s?

I'm about to get a Galaxy Note 4 (big phone) but I hate those cheap clunky windscreen mounts.

Anyone found the perfect spot in the cabin to mount their phone?

I just put a sim into the dash - but then I don't do much phone calling, so a different number isn't an issue.

Im guessing the Note 4 will be too big but both my S3 and current S5 fit nicely in the ashtray smile

My iPhone is either in my pocket (this was before the iPhone 6), in one of the cupholders (the usual place, handy for the passenger to use) or in the glovebox connected to the AMI.

Calls go out through bluetooth quite happily and I can grab the phone to see if an incoming message is serious enough to need me to stop and reply......

Depends on what you're using it for. Do you have Nav/Bluetooth?

My phone is in my pocket, or - if charging - in the slot next to the cupholders. Charger in armrest....

Do Dashmount do a mount for the B8?

I had one in my Imprezas, back in the day before smartphones and the Nokia range all had charging/integration cradles that you clipped the phone into.

Have a look at the following Kenu Airframe:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kenu-Airframe-Portable-Car...

My brother recommended it to me after he got one for his TT-S - it clips straight onto the dash vents and is pretty secure while easily pulled off for moving to another car if needed and leaves the interior intact!

Not sure if it suits a large phone such as the Note or iPhone 6 Plus - I use it for my iphone 5 but I'm delighted with it.

Yup, they do two drill less brackets, an upper and a lower. You can attach a standard cradle and run a lead into the glovebox.

Also a couple of charging cradles, if that is what you needed.

Ahh yes this is the sort of thing I'm after. My old A4 had a similar mount for the parrot system.

How do you attach your phone to that flat bracket then? I take it there are holders that fit?

The second link was for Iphone6 chraging cradles that you can attach to the bracket.

They do all makes of cradles from the home menu.

The bracket is the clever bit, as it used existing trim holes, so no drilling and invisible if removed.

Well, I fell at the first hurdle...

I managed to fit the cradle for my van easily but S4 isn't as easy.

From the Dashmount website...

http://www.dashmount.co.uk/index.php/Dashmount/Das...

Step 1. Unclip the upper fascia trim housing the info screen.

Step 2. Unclip the air vent assembly.

Step 3. Locate the bracket with eh left hand screw in the recess securing the audio unit.

Step 4. Refit the vent assembly and fascia.

I take it the upper fascia trim is the silver trim (that also surrounds the hazard lights button etc).

I've had a little tug (!) at it, but it doesn't seem like it wants to just unclip. It feels like it might break before it pops off.

Does anyone know how to unclip it / where the pivot points are?

Just looked it up on Elsawin and you need a trim removal tool and to attack it from the bottom edge of the trim, above the key slot, then work your way round.

The dash panel vent is actually more difficult to remove, and I speak from experience as it looks a similar arrangement to my S8! You might find a suitable tool on ebay but basically it's like a 90 degree allen key with a hook shape on the short end, which goes through the middle of each side of the vent and engages into the sides to give you something to apply pressure to to yank it out.

"A hole is provided on both sides of dash panel vent for engaging hook -3438-.

– Remove cover for MMI screen → Chapter.

– Working alternately on each side, carefully pull dash panel vent -1- out of opening using hook -3438-.

– Equipment version with light: Unplug electrical connector at dash panel vent.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Note

Check retaining clips for damage or deformation and renew if necessary.

– When inserting dash panel vent in opening, make sure that air duct engages properly.

– Press dash panel vent into installation opening as far as stop. "

Oil warning light just came up on the S4.

Duly topped her up with another litre, and I've not noticed anything leaking out.

Anything to worry about? She's about 30 days away from being out of a (second hand dealer) warranty.

If you mean oil level warning, then no.

1 litre in 8-10k miles seems pretty typical.

Yeh was just the warning saying that I was down to minimum but it is still OK to drive.

Just wondering...I had been driving her all day. And by driving I mean beasting her smile
