Lead right foot?
They're very sensitive to journey types. We don't do better than that average but see 25mpg at motorway speeds (with not much going past!)

yes, you're right about journey types, but still seems a bit heavy..

Overall average is currently ~29Mpg, individual journey can be as high as ~35Mpg

assuming you keep below ~80, then 30+ is easy, it's stop-start town that kills it.

From what I remember, the first few 1,000 miles it was not great, seemed to get much better after 3-4K miles.

Interestingly, it does better on fuel than the A5 2.0Tfsi at the moment (bit disappointing to be honest!)

Facelifts seem to do a fair bit better than earlier cars too

You're right; economy is fairly similar in the real world but the S4 has a lot more shove and better residuals.

bit disappointing, used to have an A4 2.0Tfsi (06 plate) that did much better on fuel.

You can get the 2.0T up into the high 30s on fuel (particularly 2 wheel drive versions) if you're super smooth but at real world speeds it's only a small amount more frugal than the S car. The 3.0 diesel is the best alternative if you want a more even balance of go/economy.

Yes it's a new one.

Not really a heavy foot, more a 10 mile commute in heavy traffic. Longer journeys definitely better.

At least it's only $2.33 for prem unld right now here = $30 to fill = happy days!

Done a few motorway miles in ours this weekend, so took the opportunity to see what the motorway economy really is!

Filled up late Saturday and did some sedate town driving and a few cold starts - schlepped back to the smoke this afternoon at a fast motorway cruise under 3k rpm most of the time and using cruise a fair bit. Did just under 160 miles on half a tank and filled up on the way home - recorded 25.2mpg on a tank filled to tank filled average. The trip computer was claiming 29mpg for the same journey!

Ok, ignoring the display, how many miles do you typically get per tank?

Its between 350-400 easy for our.

We don't tend to run it down till the warning light comes on - we filled up on Saturday with 30 miles range showing at the end of a long run and it was under 300 miles total on the tank. Mainly town work day to day though...

About 200 miles to a tank, however it only really gets used on the school run. Last Christmas we drove to the Alps and managed 300-350 per tank fully loaded!

Best I've had in our S-Tronic Avant is 29.5mpg on the display going from Glasgow to London back to Glasgow (800 mile round trip) at around 75.
Average I get is around 25mpg between fuel stops.
I never fill the tank each time unless it's for a long journey - I don't see the point in carrying the extra weight around.
Around town it's the high teens to low 20's so the car is extremely sensitive to the type of driving.

Going to replace the brake pads and discs next service and have had enough of the dust from the standard pads! Has anyone used EBC Redstuff, I remember years ago they had a bad reputation but there isn't a lot of choice for our cars...

I'd stick with OEM and use something like Gyeon RIM or gtechniq equiv. to make the brake dust easier to clean off smile Gyeon is fine for year round use, the gtechniq doesn't like salted roads but is fine for summer

would not use them if their were the last pad on earth!

Last time out I used Brembo Sport Pads

Fronts: 24743 (Ford Focus RS)
Rears: 23326 (Audi R)

Is this for pre facelift?
Were they any better with brake squelling?
Did they have wear sensor?

yes (although not sure there's any difference?)

and no, never had squeal, with OEM or these.

Yes, sensors, you need to ask as they come with and without.
