Slowly, slowly, Wlad is starting to get the recognition his talent deserves. There's no quick path to getting that recognition for Wlad as he didn't/doesn't have another recognised great of his era to prove his greatness against (well, actually he did, as dirty boy identifies, but let's leave that aside for the time being!)...although his crushingly effective yet rarely spectacular style hasn't done a lot to win sceptics over. So he can only get there by winning and winning and winning to the point where if he wasn't the genuine article, he would have tripped up somewhere along the line....and IMO that's now where he's getting to.
In respect of Joe Louis' record, one of the most stunning things is his 25-fight title reign includes a four-year period where he fought just once (thanks to WW2)...that was from his late twenties into his early thirties as well i.e. bang in his prime years. Amazing fighter.
the only minus for me with joe was that a lot of his opponents were poor, but I can see parallels with wlad in that joe was so good even contenders were made to look like chumps. there's a part of me that doesn't want Louis's record to be broken but on the other hand I've followed wlad's career since he was an amateur and he is everything I want in a heavyweight champion. if anything I respect him more for coming back and re grouping after sanders and brewster- going back to the drawing board and coming back better than ever.....if anyone deserves to be a history maker it's him!In respect of Joe Louis' record, one of the most stunning things is his 25-fight title reign includes a four-year period where he fought just once (thanks to WW2)...that was from his late twenties into his early thirties as well i.e. bang in his prime years. Just heard Bellew on the radio slagging off Cleverly's maths degree classification; the Bomber was pouring scorn on Clev's 2:2! Just when you thought you'd heard it all in boxing...
a 2:2???? fkin' dhead!!!Yiliterate said:
Damned right mate! A critical examination of fighters' academic credentials is long overdue in the sport as far as I'm concerned. Personally I've always expressed utter contempt for the Klitschkos for only having attained PhDs in Sports Science rather than proper Science...pfft, talk about taking the easy option!
HAHA!!!!!! thick fkers!.... I think we should turn the tables and by getting the Oxbridge fraternity to glove up and show these klitschko aholes I thing or twotuscaneer said:

Clev looked bigger at the weight than I expected.
May sway his way
yeah, his shoulders are way wider than bellew's.......but power comes up from the feet!!! look at Marciano and the power he generated from thick powerful legs. same for naz and Tyson.......I need to find a picture of their legs now to compare!!!.....without coming over all..... "oooh!! hello sailor!!"May sway his way

Ive read that the main event ring walk is expected at 11pm but does anybody know any of the undercard ring walk times?
Answer to my own question for those interested.http://www.matchroomboxing.com/fight-nights/clever...
Very credible win for Smith - just the sort of fight he needed. That said, I think if I were guiding him I'd be looking for two or three more fights of that type of level before trying to put him in with a Groves or a DeGale.
He also looks bldy massive for a Super-Middleweight; could see him moving up at some stage in the future.
