There's no doubting GGG is the real deal, that 'chopping' right that he throws at the temple is a really unusual shot too, as you'd think it'd open him up, but it's just always thrown at the right time. His footwork is great, he can punch, the boy is good!also, as an amateur he has beaten a who's who of current top pro's in the likes of andy lee, mat korobov, andre dirrell, lucian bute....the list goes on.

Froch 3 or 4 years ago, i'd fancy to give him hell, but he was noticeably slower against Groves and I don't care what anyone says, he still got lucky IMO with the KOs to a degree, but that's boxing.

If Degale and Groves win their world title fights, I hope they meet again. That would be pretty interesting.

I'd love to see both win their forthcoming title fights, but not just for that reason...it's because, quite simply, Super Middleweight is OUR bloody division! Britain and Ireland's! It's the division of Eubank and Benn and Collins, Calzaghe and the Cobra, Reid, Woodhall and Catley! DeGale and Groves simply have to add their names to that list...Calum Smith too. It's their duty, their birthright, their destiny!!! It's OUR bloody division!!!!! OURS!!!!!!!!!!!That said, Dirrell on points is where the sensible money should go...

The last few fights he's looked a f
king monster. The stoppages of takam and now perez were nothing short of sensational. I can't see wilder living with that.and povetkin is now mandatory for the wbc......

If I'm being completely honest, my evening went basically like this:
1) Notice Povetkin-Perez is about to be shown on BoxNation
2) Drop a quick post on here in case anyone else has missed this
3) Get myself comfortable ahead of the fight
4) Start watching a surprisingly entertaining 'sound and light' show preceding the ring walks
5) ZZZzzz ZZZzzz
6) End credits are rolling
So technically I did see the knock-out, but the executive producer's name was scrolling across the screen at the same time and it was through somewhat bleary eyes. I take it Povetkin looked good then?!
What I think would be interesting is a re-match with a ref like the guy from the Jennings fight, who won't let Wlad get away with the level of clinching that he used in the first Povetkin fight.

Think you're right you know......sasha seems to be really good on the inside. That short hook he threw to disconnect perez from his senses was immense......wladimir won basically every round at distance and tied him up on the i side. If the ref stopped that happening I'm sure that some of those powerful inside hooks from povetkin would land....It would certainly be more competitive than the first fight in that scenario.1) Notice Povetkin-Perez is about to be shown on BoxNation

Here's hoping degale beats dirrell tonight. He's looking better than ever and I'd love to see the groves rematch if he wins.it's a fight I suspect degale would win at this point in time

It's funny you say that, I was reading something on the Sky website the other day and most of those pundits polled were picking DeGale over Groves now. I can understand why on current form but personally I think Groves will look a different fighter in his next fight. He had two colossal fights against Carl Froch (one of which, apparently, was at Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 people) and moreover, it was Groves who was doing the bulk of the pre-fight 'work'; the mind-games, the hyping, the immediate pursuit of the re-match, etc. Add to which, around that time he also split from Adam Booth and was involved in a court case with him, then negotiated a deal with Sauerland...when you think about it, that was a huge 9-12 months for any fighter to go through. After all that, including being sparked by Froch (in front of 80,000 people at Wembley apparently), I think he was in real need of a good long break to recharge his batteries. Instead, within 3-4 months, he's fighting for the European title and pursuing a fight for the WBC belt. I think his less than stellar performances against Rebrasse and the other feller he fought a few weeks after that on the Bellew-Cleverly card were basically because he was seriously jaded. He didn't appear to be suffering any psychological effects from the loss to Froch (reported to have been at Wembley stadium in front of 80,000 people); he just didn't have much left in the tank. No surprise really...
Now he's had a good 6 months away from the ring, I think his batteries will be fully recharged and he'll be chomping at the bit again, especially if DeGale can win tonight!

Having read what you've just written and given it a bit of thought.......you may be right fella.......
If you consider the mental fortitude groves displayed over that period it is impressive.....especially culminating in a Wembley fight that if some reports are to be believed was in front of 80,000 fans!!!!!!!
I've always championed groves from the first time I saw him on one of the echo arena under cards and to this point have always felt he had degales number......but James has looked great over the last few fights.........
It will be good to see how his performance tonight measures up to frochs performance against dirrell.
I'd love him To do a number on dirrell tonight to set up a huge fight with groves at the back end of the year
