I've currently got several cheap digital watches and am after something a little bit nicer for Christmas. Thing is the budget is only £50 so no gold-plated chronowotsits or fancy brands. I am quite tempted by this Casio advertised in the Torygraph; http://shop.telegraph.co.uk/dd-6405/cat-cdh/fashio...I'm sure someone here could do better I am thinking about a stainless steel analogue watch but am open to any other styles.

Definitely a Seiko 5, or maybe a used dive, if you can find one,

That is a cool looking watch where can you get it from for circa £50?

It's either circa £40 plus p&p from Singapore on the 'bay or circa £60 from a UK reseller From the 'bay who's marked it up for postage and customs from Asia, there is a slightly different dial version for the UK market but can't remember the model code. I've got two arriving in a day or two for my two boys Xmas presents. It is 37mm so slightly smaller than a usual 41mm size but again, the uk version may be bigger.

Another recommendation for a Seiko 5. I think the bay is the best place to source them and would suggest either JustSeiko or WatchStar. There are many others, but these 2 I have bought from and the service was top notch.

It's a bit blingy (loooks like a Breitling), but currently reduced to £49.99 in Argos (started off at over £100, but has been steadily reduced). Seems like a decent watch - I'm tempted to get one just to Fleabay it if I don't like it:

Casio MDV102 can be had for about £30. Analogue diver styley with a back light. Very solid watch for the money.

If you look here you'll find what you are looking for. Seiko, one of the best makers in the world, and not dear. That is if an automatic is what you want, and not quartz http://www.creationwatches.com/products/search/res...All around £50 and the company highly recommended here.
